Listen to this episode:
Ahead of the Bitcoin 2021 conference, “Bitcoin Magazine Podcast” host Christian Kerolis sat down with keynote speaker and brilliant Bitcoin thinker Allen Farrington on his first podcast appearance. This interview covers two of Farrington’s primary works and why Farrington prefers investigating Bitcoin’s cultural and literary alignment over the paradigm framework of economics, commerce and technology.
First, Kerrolls and Farrington delve into the latter’s article, “Capital Strip Mine. The article is a roughly 30-minute read that delves into why the current fiat system is effectively stripping the United States and the current financial system of its resources. Farrington compares what is happening in the capital markets to strip mining techniques that have become popular in the modern era. Farrington regrets that because of incentives Weak to mandatory money, civilization has taken a growth mindset at any cost and eliminated every consideration for long-term thinking and preservation.
Second, they entered Farrington’s blockbuster article” Bitcoin Is Venice, Bitcoin Is. In this article, Farrington educates the reader about the anomaly represented by Venice, Italy at its height. Venice was a magical mixture of sound money, capitalism, and free society when many of its neighbors were still vainly employed. Venice, unlike other large cities, was a bastion of the arts. Wealth and Thought Farrington details how the sounds of bitcoin and the fairness of cash provide a framework for humanity to return to gun-like conditions and hopefully thrive.
Finally, Keroles and Farrington discuss Farrington’s plan for his now major presentation Bitcoin 2021 titled, “Milk of Heaven: Bitcoin and Western Law. The speech discussed how Western literature, culture, and historical lessons can fit into the values and characteristics Bitcoin symbolizes in a physical network on nodes that maintains consensus in a decentralized manner. Please enjoy this wonderful conversation with Allen Farrington.
