$2.3 billion bitcoin missing from exchange

The founders of the South African crypto exchange Africrypt, two brothers named Amir and Rais Kaji, have reportedly disappeared, as has more than $2.3 billion in clients’ bitcoins.

“A law firm in Cape Town hired by investors says they cannot locate the brothers and has reported the matter to the Hawks family, an elite unit of the national police force,” Bloomberg mentioned. “Following the massive surge in bitcoin value last year, the disappearance of about 69,000 coins — worth over $4 billion at the peak of April — would represent the largest dollar loss ever in a cryptocurrency scam.”
