Can MJ really get suspended during Spider-Man’s swing?

At this moment, the MJ wheel is directed upwards, because it is towards the center of the circle. For the total force to be equal to mass multiplied by acceleration, the pull-up force must be greater than the gravitational force pulling down.

We can write it as the following equation. (This is a numerical equation because all forces are along the vertical axis.)

Since this is a scalar equation, the gravitational force will be negative, i.e. downward movement. From this, I can solve the problem of the tension force pulling the MJ, and thus the force you need to exert to hold the web.

But that still leaves the question: could Are they actually clung? Therefore, we will need some numerical values.

Estimates from the trailer

While the shot of Spidey and MJ rocking around the city looks great, it’s not set for a physical issue. I would like to see a nice stable view from the side with something nearby to help me determine the distance scale. But no – instead we get something visually appealing, which appears to have been filmed on camera below the trapeze arc.

Fine. I guess I’ll just have to make some rough estimates. But don’t worry, I’ll put all the calculations here so you can change the values if you don’t like my guesses.

Really, there are only three things I need to estimate: the length of the web during the swing, the speed of the MJ at the bottom of the swing, and the mass of the MJ. Finding the mass is the easiest. I can just look up the measurements for Zendaya Coleman, who plays MJ. I will go with a mass of 59 kg, Appreciation on celebrity biography page—This may not be accurate, but in the end, this value doesn’t matter much.
